Rep stitch

  • Aubusson stitch

Rep stitch is a diagonal canvaswork stitch, similar to tent stitch.

It crosses two vertical threads and a single horizontal one, giving a stitch which is wider than it is high.  Some authors say it has to be worked on double canvas although others work it on regular canvas.

N.B. Rep stitch is sometimes used as an alternative name for tied gobelin stitch.
