Open honeycomb (pattern)

This blackwork pattern is formed by large oval shapes embellished with small slanted diamonds and a central line. It lends itself to large areas.
Method
Starting at the left edge two threads down from the top, work a vertical stitch down over two threads.
Continue by stitching a horizontal stitch over two threads of the fabric to form a corner.
Count up two threads and stitch another horizontal stitch over two threads, offset from the first stitch.
Connect these two horizontal stitches with two diagonal stitches to form a slanted box.
Count two threads down and create a vertical stitch over two threads (this should be level with the first stitch).
Take the needle up to the top and create a mirror image of the slanted box to the right.
Repeat the last five steps and work across to the edge of the shape.
Repeat the pattern working back and forth across the area, the pattern should be offset from the row above.
Continue to fill the area with more rows to complete the open honeycomb pattern.
