Closed diagonal darning (pattern)
This blackwork stitch consists of long straight stitches, offset by one thread, to form subtle diagonal stripes. It provides dense, flat coverage.
Method
1
Work a series of straight horizontal parallel stitches over five fabric threads. Each stitch should be offset horizontally by one fabric thread from the stitch above.
2
Work back up the shape repeating the same stitch over five threads, ensuring each stitch shares a hole with the previous stitch on that line.
3
Continue to fill the space by working back and forth across the area to be filled.
